I Can Only Imagine

I noticed in my last two posts I quoted Revelation 7:16 Never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat upon them, nor any scorching heat. 17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Now I mostly quoted that last part just because it brings me so so much peace. All I imagine is meeting God in heaven and all my worries, all my cares, all my fears, all my stresses, all my insecurities, everything is just gone. It’s all wiped away with love. That to me is so amazing and reminds me what peace really is, what faith really is, what endurance really is, what confidence really is, and what love really is. I feel like I can actually just take a deep breathe and be like, ‘it’s all okay Tess, this is just my temporary home’.

Worship: (n) the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity.

  (v) show reverence and adoration for (a deity); honor with religious rites.

I felt the need to bring more Revelation in because although it may seem scary to some, it’s God’s true love story to us.

In the very first chapter it says, Revelation 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, who is, and was, and is to come, the Almighty.”

If any of you were raised like me, you were raised singing those lines almost every Sunday! But when I read it now, now that I’ve grown a relationship, I can feel the actual meaning. I know that this is God’s promise to me. He was and is and is to come. He is the beginning and the end. He is forever. That gives me chills.

In the fourth chapter says, Revelation 4:8 Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”

I know this just seems like I’m repeating myself but just imagine being in heaven and always and forever able to worship God. You can look to your left, right, in front, or behind you and everyone is praising the same, one, God, your God, my God, our God.

In the fifth chapter it says, Revelation 5:12 In a loud voice they sang: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise”

Again, if you grew up like me, you were singing this almost every Sunday but these words will never get old. “Thank you for this love Lord, Thank you for the nail pierced hands, Washed me in Your cleansing flow, Now all I know Your forgiveness and embrace, Worthy is the Lamb, Seated on the throne, Crown You now with many crowns, You reign victorious, High and lifted up, Jesus, Son of God, The Darling of Heaven crucified, Worthy is the Lamb, Worthy is the Lamb”.

Back to the first chapter again because this reminds me of one of my favorite songs. Revelation 1:17 When I saw Him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then He placed his right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive forever and ever!”

Don’t take that as a creepy verse. Imagine seeing God yourself. There are no words to describe how you would feel when you actually see Him. This brings me to this beautiful song. I have attached the link and I encourage everyone to listen to it. Remember the definition of worship I have posted and here are some synonyms that I find truly beautiful to represent our relationships with God, both giving and receiving: adoration, honor, praise, and cherish.

If you’ve never heard it before, you’ll love it! If you have heard it before, take a step back and just listen to the words.

This video doesn’t have lyrics pop up so if you want to pay closer attention to the words here they are:

If you enjoyed this post and the song I shared and are feeling super into worship, I encourage you to look up the songs I mentioned to really hear those words too! Also, if you’re interest in newer, more contemporary worship, feel free to ask! I love all the oldies, the newbies and in between. Who are some of your favorite Christian bands/musicians?
