I love it. SO much.
Google Calendar is the #1 tool you need to succeed as a college student. I’m so serious. In this post we’re going to talk about a couple reasons why (some of my events are blurred out because they are too personal or too specific).
Easy color coding
My #1 favorite part of Google Calendar is the ability to color code. I LOVE COLOR CODING! You can create many different calendars, each with a different color theme. Then, when you have all of the calendars displayed together, you’re able to sort through your events and categorize your plans.
How to CREATE A NEW CALENDAR: On the left sidebar, underneath “My Calendar” hit the little down arrow. Select “Create a new calendar.” Name your calendar (like “School” or “Personal”) and voila! You’re done!
Choose your layout
If a monthly overview makes you feel weird and you don’t like looking at your to-do list all at once, the good thing is that Google Calendar gives you lots of different layouts to choose from! There are a couple of settings: Day, Week, Month, 4 Days, and Agenda (seen below).
And this is ALL accessible from your computer OR your phone!
Sync with your phone
You can sync your Google Calendar across all of your devices, Android and iPhone (iTunes download here). I use this app instead of the iPhone’s calendar so I don’t miss out on an event I put in on my laptop. Your devices automatically sync!
Print it out
Each month, I print out the “basic” calendar I have – recurring events, deadlines, etc. – and hang it in my room. Of course I can add to that paper calendar as the month goes on and I love having the option to print out my plans and take it all with me.
That’s it! Just a few reasons why I rely on Google Calendar to keep my life from falling apart. Do you use Google Calendar? What works for you? Any questions?
