Getting to Know: Positively Katie

Hey everyone! Happy June! I haven’t been doing much of blogging lately other than sharing guest posts, and I apologize. I leave for my trip with Katie next Tuesday, and there is a LOT to be done: shopping last-minute for some essentials, packing (and leaving enough room for souvenirs), arranging taxis and rides…the list goes on and on! I can’t wait to share with you all where I’m going and write about my adventures!

Please welcome Katie from Positively Katie. Her favorite post is the one about running a half-marathon, and that’s my favorite on her blog, too! The post is very inspiring and I hope to be writing about running 13.1 miles myself one day 🙂

Getting to Know (6)

What’s your blog’s name, and why? Positively Katie- I’ve always prided myself on being a very positive person. It’s always one of those best qualities I list in interviews. I feel like it’s better than dedicatd Netflix-er, overly obsessed dog owner and enthusiastic tequila lover.  I’d like to share that attitude with my readers.

How long have you been blogging? I’ve had this blog since spring of 2014, but I’ve been blogging off and on since 2009- my freshman year of college

Fill in the blank: When I’m not blogging, I am…training for my third half marathon. Or checking out a new, awesome restaurant in St. Louis. If you’re curious, I can list my picks for the top five to ten places to get toasted ravioli in St. Louis. If you’re curious as to what a toasted ravioli is, it’s a St. Louis delicacy and it’s delicious. Ravioli. Breaded. Fried. Amazing.

What’s oPositively Katiene thing about your blog that makes you proud? How it’s become a fun, creative outlet and allowed me to share my favorite things with others.

Those who read Always, S can click over to your blog to find…tales and advice from my adventures in adulthood and pictures of food and my dog. I’ve had quite a few learning experiences since I graduated college two years ago- got in a minor accident, found my first apartment, got a job, got a promotion, wrote countless thank-you notes, applied for health benefits, dressed in business professional everyday, etc.

Three random facts: 1. I’m an only child  2. I was a HUGE Jonas Brothers fan in High School 3. I’m a total early bird- I’ve never slept past noon in my entire life

Summer must-haves: Sunscreen with a high SPF (I’m a fair skinned ginger), Bug spray (I just came back from Florida with about ten massive mosquito bites while the ten people I went with got none. It’s awful), aviators, denim shorts, margaritas, tickets to as many baseball games as I can get my hands on.

If you had to be stranded on a deserted island with one person who would you want that one person to be? My boyfriend because he would make me laugh about it then entire time.

Furthest you’ve traveled from your home: I lived in Brussels for three months in college. I got to travel to Germany, the UK, France, Spain and the Netherlands. Easily the best experience of my life.

Mountains or the beach? Right now I could really use a week on the beach, but I think mountains are beyond gorgeous. I’ve always described my ideal travel spot as that scene from the Sound of Music where Maria and the children are singing in the mountains in their matching outfits.

Dream job? I always thought it was an editor for a lifestyle magazine, but I’m really loving my job now even though I never expected to end up where I am. I’m challenged everyday and it’s rewarding as hell.  I guess I’m still trying to figure it out. Although editing a high-powered magazine would still be amazing.

Who or what inspires you? Strong, confident, successful women. My bosses, my mom.

I can’t stop listening to…the Queen Pandora station. I can’t get enough of Classic Rock lately, especially while I’m driving. It’s a loud, humiliating sing-a-long.

My favorite post: When I ran my first half marathon

My most recent post: Went almost a month without blogging…again. Sometimes life gets in the way of blogging, ya know?

Where to next?

  • She truly is positive and inspiring! I can’t wait to read more about her half marathon! I too am a runner, and was recently sidelined for two months following double foot surgeries. As of yesterday I am back in the game, and it is so frustrating how fast you lose fitness! Before 7 miles was a breeze, and now 1 mile is a struggle! I’m anxious to start training back up and I look forward to the day my feet (and lungs!) are strong enough to handle 13.1

  • I am totally jealous of her college travels and definitely commend her on never sleeping past noon in her life.
That is something that I definitely cannot say I have done since I love to sleep.
I love learning about someone new each week.
