Confetti Talk is a series on Always, S that introduces you to some of my big blogging inspirations! You’ll learn all about what they do, what makes them happy, and how they stay happy. And be prepared for a whole lotta PINK. Real people, real happy. Throwing kindness around like confetti.
Who are you?
My name is Jordyn and I started my blog, The Fairy Princess Diaries
as a junior in college as a creative outlet. I’ve now been a “real adult” for almost two years. I live in Seattle, Washington and work as a bridal stylist at an intimate boho inspired boutique.
What makes you happy?
My happiest days are spent outside in the sunshine. I love nature, puppy kisses, mornings (especially if they involve mimosas) and fresh flowers. I am so happy when I am able to travel but I also appreciate the beautiful city I call home.
What is one thing you would tell your high school self?
In high school I felt so much pressure to have it all together, to know what I was doing and to be successful without ever failing. I realize now that it’s okay to fail, it’s okay to be confused and though I still struggle with this, it’s okay to ask for help. My high school self was so focused on doing everything independently, it caused too much anxiety! No one can do it all alone!
What is one thing you use on a daily basis that you can’t live without?
Coffee & a really great moisturizer (I like Kate Somerville Goat Milk & Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital).
How do you stay positive when you’re stressed out?
Stress is usually an all consuming feeling for me. When I start to feel like my day is overrun by stress it’s helpful to have a long ranting conversation with my best friend either in person or on the phone. I usually leave the conversation feeling more positive and optimistic. When I can’t talk to a friend journaling is such a great release of emotion.
For what in your life do you feel most grateful? How do you show that gratitude?
I am most grateful for the educational opportunities I’ve been given. Critical thinking and openness towards diversity are two of the traits I admire most and strive to emulate. I love learning simply for the sake of learning-there’s always a new class I want to take or book on my reading list. In the United States we have so many more opportunities to enhance our learning than other parts of the world. I have a vested interest in the Middle East and I am looking for an opportunity to help empower women’s education abroad. I believe it is our responsibility to give back to those not born into the privilege we have been given.
What kind of legacy do you want to leave?
More than anything I want to be remembered as someone who was kind and intelligent. I don’t think either trait is fully beneficial without the other intertwined. You can be nice but without the intelligence to do anything with that kindness it’s pretty vapid. You can be intelligent but if you’re mean spirited you can hurt the world more than you help it. I want to be someone who uses her brain and heart equally to make an impact.
When you’re 100, what will matter to you the most?
At 100 I like to think I’ll care most about the relationships and experiences I’ve strived to build.
Why Jordyn inspires me: I’m sure you’re used to me saying that I met the blogger in a Facebook group, but its true!! Two of Jordyn’s posts really stand out to me: The 25 Word Exercise and my VERY favorite, 5 Ways the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is Empowering (seriously a must read). Her writing is so honest, pure, and kind. I’ve loved getting to know her heart through her blog over the last year or so. This is a beautiful girl with big, beautiful dreams! I can’t WAIT to see where life takes her next!
