Happy Friday! Today is the beginning of an AWESOME linkup. I’ve teamed up with other bloggers from the East Coast to bring you the best of where we live! If you’re interested in joining in on the fun, you have until June 20, 5pm EST to add your link at the bottom of this post. Just make sure you’re on the East Coast, of course!
I’ve grown up around Chapel Hill my whole life. It was the place to go after high school days to hang out, it is the perfect spot for weekend plans, and I’m happy to call it my home. In case you’re visiting this summer, I’ve put together a list of where to eat and what to do while you’re here!
Where to Eat
(photo via) Merritt’s Grill is probably the most popular place on “The Hill.” Its homegrown, all original menu is to DIE for. Their BLT is a huge hit here and holds a big title up and down the East Coast! My personal favorite is their cajun chicken biscuit. You immediately get the small town, family vibe when you walk in. Good luck finding a parking spot! There are lots behind and across from the grill, but both get full fast. You might have to walk a ways to eat here, but its worth it.
Sup Dogs ($$)
(photos via) With over 20 all-beef hot dogs and 14 specialty burgers, Sup Dogs is the place to be for all things loud and crazy. After a Carolina game, you’ll find Franklin Street crowded and Sup Dogs at the epicenter. With sidewalk seating, plenty of room inside, and the perfect party menu, you’re guaranteed a good time. Prepare to fight for a table. It’s THAT good.
(photo via) If you were to come to Franklin Street (the street running through Chapel Hill, UNC Chapel Hill, and really the greatest place on Earth), you probably wouldn’t get pointed in the direction of Tallulah’s Turkish Cuisine. Hidden in between more popular picks is the BEST restaurant I’ve ever been to, hands down. Its the food you never knew you loved. I first went to Tallulah’s after my graduation. You walk into a large room separated into smaller seating areas by beautiful embroidered tapestries and fabrics. It is dimly lit by candles and little lights here and there. Tallulah’s is romantic, adventurous, and private: the perfect place for a nice date!
Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen ($)
Have y’all seen Bad Grandpa? Yes? Remember this scene?
Well….this Sunrise Biscuit Kitchen is IN CHAPEL HILL! And home of the best biscuits. Ever. I’m serious. Don’t go anywhere else. If you do anything on this list, stop by Sunrise on your way out of the city. You won’t regret it.
